Elsa Pataky, Liam Hemsworth’s sister-in-law, shared her thoughts on the singer’s smash hit.

Miley Cyrus ‘Flowers’ has been one of the biggest songs of the year so far in 2023.

The song, which was released on ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s birthday, has already landed in the #1 spot in the Pop Airplay charts.

The song debuted at #16 back on January 28, with its climb to #1 making it the fastest track to take the top spot since Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ back in 2016.

It’s her third song, after ‘Party in the U.S.A’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’, to take top spot on the Pop Airplay charts.

Reaction to Cyrus’ song

While the song, which is reportedly about her relationship with Hemsworth, has proven to be a hit with fans, the Australian actor has kept quiet about the track.

However, at a recent event in Spain for footwear brand Gioseppo, Elsa Pataky, who is married to Liam’s brother Chris, shared her thoughts on the hit song.

“It’s a very old topic for us,” she said when asked about the song. “If someone should talk it should be Liam, but I think she [Cyrus] can do what she wants.”

She was also asked if her and Cyrus remain in contact with one another, and while there doesn’t appear to be any animosity between the two, she said that’s no longer the case.

“Not anymore because we live in different countries and it’s difficult,” added Pataky.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met back in 2009 on the set of ‘The Last Song’. Shortly after filming completed, the couple confirmed they were seeing each other.

The couple then broke up and got back together a few times before getting engaged in May 2012, and later calling things off in September 2013.

Cyrus and Hemsworth rekindled their relationship in March 2016, and later announced they were engaged once again in October 2016. They married in a private ceremony in their Nashville home in December 2018.

However, the marriage didn’t last very long as Cyrus announced the pair had separated in August 2019. Hemsworth filed for divorce 11 days later, citing “irreconcilable differences”, and it was later finalized on January 28, 2020.
