In 2023, Billboard ranked him number 14 on its list of the 50 Greatest Rock Singers of All Time. “Tyler has done more for the music industry than almost any lead singer aside from Stevie Nicks [...] Tyler, who wrote or co-wrote all but four of Aerosmith’s 28 Hot 100 hits, also plays harmonica and piano, but it’s his vocal prowess, which spans several generations of rock music, that earned him the nickname ‘Demon of Screamin,‘” the outlet noted.
Steven Victor Tallarico, known professionally as Steven Tyler, was born in New York City on March 26, 1948, making him currently 77 years old. Tyler boasts an extensive discography, including 15 studio albums with Aerosmith, a solo album, several singles and collaborations; as well as multiple tours and accolades with the band, such as 17 Grammy nominations and four Awards and an Emmy and Tony nomination.

In August of last year, Aerosmith announced that they would be retiring from touring. The band thanked their fans for supporting them for more than five decades. “It has been an honor in our lives to have our music become a part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour, and in both grand and private moments, you have given us a place on the soundtrack of your lives,” the band shared.

At the time, the band announced they would be stepping back from the stage due to Steven Tyler’s vocal issues. “We have spent months working tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his injury. We have watched him struggle despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made the heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision as a band of brothers to step back from touring,” they said.
“One last thank you to you, the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Keep dreaming. You have made our dreams come true,” they concluded. Tyler performed live on February 2, 2025, at the “Jam for Janie” Grammy Awards party, marking his first performance since Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring.
