On the same day that Tucker Carlson parted ways with right-wing news giant FOX News, CNN decided to end its relationship with Lemon. The TV veteran announced his departure on Twitter on April 24, 2023:

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at work.”

CNN had announced the dismissal of Lemon on the Communication Twitter account with the standard announcement thanking him for his service.

But after Lemon posted his tweet, the CNN Corporate account answered by saying: “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

We’ll have to see how this plays out, but for now it looks like Lemon is not happy about the way his employer has handled the situation.

Don Lemon’s net worth and salary at CNN

According to Yahoo News, Don Lemon made $4 million per year while he was employed at CNN. The same source puts the TV host’s net worth at $12 million. His departure from the multinational news channel comes shortly after Tucker Carlson had parted ways with FOX News.

Some sources claim that the firing was due to some remarks Lemon made about Nikki Haley, a 51-year-old Republican presidential candidate, regarding her age.
