What is Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin’s net worth?
A major Hollywood star as a child actor at the end of the 20th century, the 43-year-old Culkin was this month inducted into the Walk of Fame.
Macaulay Culkin, who rose to fame as a child movie star in the late 1980s and early 1990s, is estimated to have amassed eight-figure wealth during a 40-year career that has also seen him appear on stage and on the small screen, and venture into music and publishing.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, a website that specialises in calculating how rich famous figures are, Culkin boasts an $18 million fortune.
Star of smash Home Alone movies
Now 43, Culkin is best known for the Home Alone movies, in which he played Kevin McAllister, a child who is separated from his family during the Christmas holiday and must harness all his cunning to foil the criminal intentions of the ‘Wet Bandits’, Harry Lyme and Marv Murchins.
Culkin received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the first Home Alone film, which was a box-office smash in 1990. The sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, then enjoyed similarly huge commercial success two years later. His younger brother Kieran, who went on to star in the acclaimed HBO series Succession, also appeared in both Home Alone movies.
Among Culkin’s other most notable film credits during his period as a child actor are 1989′s My Girl, and 1994′s Richie Rich.
Culkin’s post-Home Alone career
After taking a career break in the second half of the 1990s, Culkin reappeared in 2000 with a role in the stage play Madame Melville.
He then returned to the screen in 2003, making a memorable cameo in the NBC TV sitcom Will & Grace, and playing convicted killer Michael Alig in the film Party Monster. He has since featured intermittently in film and on television; most notably, the New York native starred in 2021′s American Horror Story: Double Feature, the tenth season of the hit FX anthology series American Horror Story.
Between 2013 and 2016, Culkin was the lead vocalist for the comedy rock band Pizza Underground, which chiefly played pizza-themed parodies of Velvet Underground tracks. The year after Pizza Underground split, he started the satirical pop culture website Bunny Ears.
Culkin given star on Walk of Fame
This month, Culkin was honoured for his career with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Macaulay Culkin has been a staple in pop culture for decades,” Ana Martinez, the producer of the Walk of Fame, said. “He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, ‘Home Alone’ is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over.”
Catherine O’Hara, who played Culkin’s mother in Home Alone, was among those who spoke at his Walk of Fame ceremony. “Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation,” she said. “The reason it’s that, the reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together, is Macaulay Culkin.”
In an emotional speech, Culkin himself said: “Thank you to the Walk of Fame committee for honouring me in this way. I feel such esteem from this whole thing. There’s so many people that I love, and to feel that love back is just amazing.”
