Luke Wilson stars in ‘Fired on Mars’ trailer
Luke Wilson’s character, Jeff Cooper, is a graphic designer who eagerly anticipated his relocation to Mars after receiving a job offer from a Mars startup company, Mars.ly.
There is only one problem: his boss suddenly calls him in for a meeting to unceremoniously cut his role at the company.
“The thing is, I left my entire life behind so I could be a graphic designer on Mars,” Wilson narrates as Jeff Cooper as the trailer opens.
“A frontier town on the edge of the universe. This is where we planted our flag,” Wilson continues, with the camera panning to an American flag. “This is where we will write our next chapter.”
The narrator goes on to say that he was excited to move to Mars and was incredibly inspired there. Until his job gets “put on hold” and he is told to “trust the process on this one”.
After inquiring if this could not have been sorted out before he signed the paperwork and moves to another planet and getting no response, Wilson’s character is now on Mars and unemployed, with Wilson’s character having to navigate several futuristic adventures to survive.
The ‘Fired on Mars’ lineup

Wilson is joined by Leslie David Baker, Cory Loykasek, Stephen Root, and Cedric Yarbrough, as well as Pamela Adlon, Thomas Haden Church, Tim Heidecker, Frankie Quinones, Emily Watson, and Sean Wing as guest stars in the series which currently sits at eight episodes.
‘Fired on Mars’ official synopsis
The official synopsis describes the antics to come upon the “unceremonious elimination” of his role at the company.
“Jeff Cooper (Luke Wilson) has it all: a fulfilling career as the graphic designer for space start-up Mars.ly, a relationship with his soon-to-be Red Planet-bound girlfriend, Hannah, and… well, maybe that’s it,” the synopsis reads. “But when his bosses unceremoniously eliminate his role, Jeff finds himself jobless and unable to return to Earth.”
“Adrift in the sprawling office colony,” the description continues, “Jeff is forced to reinvent himself as he attempts to find meaning in a dangerous, alien, yet all-too-familiar corporate landscape. An existential and irreverent animated comedy series, FIRED ON MARS explores the precarious relationship between work and self…light years away from Earth.”
