What is the age gap between Sarah Paulson and her partner Holland Taylor? How did they meet?
Paulson has described fellow Emmy winner Taylor, who is three decades older than her, as “the most spectacular person on the planet”.
Sarah Paulson, who is among today’s guests on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, has been in a relationship with fellow actor Holland Taylor since 2015.

Eyebrows have been raised at the age gap between the pair - Paulson is 49, while Taylor is 81 - but the American Horror Story regular says the reaction to their romance is a product of people’s “ageist thinking”.
In an interview with Harpers Bazaar in 2020, Paulson said criticism of her decision to date a woman 32 years her senior speaks to “the idea that to be old is to cease to have any desire”.
In 2018, she told Modern Luxury: “If anyone wants to spend any time thinking I’m strange for loving the most spectacular person on the planet, then that’s their problem.”
How did Paulson and Taylor meet?
Paulson, who won a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance in 2017′s The People v. O. J. Simpson, first met Taylor at a party in 2005.
At that time, they were both in relationships with other people. However, when they encountered each other again a decade later, they began chatting on social media and soon became an item.
In a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Paulson recalled: “We sort of breezed by one another, and then started following each other on Twitter, and then…”
Being with Paulson “wonderful, extraordinary” - Taylor
Taylor, an Emmy winner for The Practice in 1999, has described her relationship with Paulson as “the most wonderful, extraordinary thing that could have ever possibly happened in my life”.
And the Two and a Half Men star revealed last year that the secret to their long-lasting partnership is that they allow one another to “follow our own path”.
“We do some things separately so everyone gets to be true to what they believe,” Taylor explained to Page Six. “She’s much more social, and I like a little bit of alone time, so I have that. She spends some time with friends and not with me, so it’s a good balance.”
