Ben Affleck’s portfolio is far bigger than just his acting career, as he also has a hand in directing and producing. Starting out as a young actor in the early ‘90s and skyrocketing to fame by the end of the decade, Affleck continues to test himself with challenging projects.

Affleck and his long-time friend and business partner, Matt Damon, co-wrote the award-winning ‘Good Will Hunting’ in 1997, and recently founded their own production company, Artists Equity, which has just released its first film, ‘Air’.

The Massachusetts-born actor has directed a total of five movies so far, and here’s a look at them.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s 2023 ‘Air’

‘Air’ follows the rise of sports brand Nike as they develop the Air Jordan alongside Michael Jordan in the rookie days of his career.

Affleck and Damon co-star in the movie, with Affleck as the founder of Nike and Damon as a sports exec in charge of the initiative.

The true story sports drama is already receiving glowing reviews.

Affleck’s most well-recieved movie

Affleck’s 2012 critically acclaimed film ‘Argo’ won an Academy Award for Best Picture. The historical drama thriller is a true story that takes place in the ‘70s, where Affleck plays a CIA agent who needs to get American Embassy staff out of Iran during a violent conflict.

The plan centers on the staff disguising themselves as a Canadian filmmaking team who defy Iranian authorities to make an epic escape.

Affleck’s other movies

‘Live by Night’ (2016)

Affleck directed and stars in ‘Live By Night’, along with Sienna Miller. The film is a gangster thriller set in the Prohibition era.

‘The Town’ (2010)

‘The Town’ has a gangster theme similar to ‘Live By Night’, which Affleck appears in as well, though this film received better reviews.

The bank-heist thriller follows a gang of thieves whose leader falls for one of their victims.

‘Gone Baby Gone’ (2007)

The first movie Ben Affleck ever directed was in 2007 with his production, ‘Gone Baby Gone’.

This is also the only film Affleck ever directed that he didn’t appear in himself. His younger brother, Casey Affleck, was cast in the lead role of the detective-based film.
