OSCARS 2024
What movies have Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio worked together?
Both actors first collaborated with Martin Scorsese in 1993′s ‘This Boy’s Life’ and reunited again for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ in 2023.
The partnership between Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio is undoubtedly one of the most captivating in the entertainment industry. Both actors possess unique charisma and acting ability, making them some of the most respected figures in Hollywood. When they come together, their synergy is undeniable, and they have proven to form a duo worthy of a critically acclaimed film like ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’
De Niro’s performance in the film earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. Although he is not the front-runner to win the award (Robert Downey Jr. is the favorite for his role in ‘Oppenheimer’), De Niro’s portrayal of his character is one of the standout performances in the movie.
United by three projects
It’s worth noting that the duo formed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro have worked together before. The first time was in 1993 when DiCaprio starred in ‘This Boy’s Life,’ which is based on the memoirs of Tobias Wolff. The film follows DiCaprio’s character, a boy affected by his mother’s relationship with his cruel stepfather, played by De Niro. They both worked under the direction of renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The same director again opted for DiCaprio and De Niro in 2015, being the protagonists of a comic short film with which they had to promote a casino in China, titled ‘The Audition,’ along with another famous face from the big screen, such as Brad Pitt. They all appear in the production playing fictional versions of themselves as they compete to appear in the director’s next film.
A Crime/Western style film that was released eight years later, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ again opts with the couple formed by De Niro and DiCaprio as two of the great attractions of the film, in addition to Lily Gladstone, who is nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Supporting Actress.
