What trait does Rumer Willis hope her child inherits from Bruce Willis and Demi Moore?
The 34-year-old soon-to-be mother speculates on what her child’s personality will be like – and hopes they will be just like her parents.
Rumer Willis has great reverence for the way her parents, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, brought her up, from Moore’s unmedicated approach to giving birth, to her parents’ sense of humor.
Willis said that she hopes her new family will follow in their footsteps — especially that the child will inherit Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s “goofiness”.
The 34-year-old Willis is expecting her first child with her partner, Derek Richard Thomas.
Willis, age 68, and Moore, 60 years old, split in 2000, but have remained close friends ever since.
To be like Bruce and Demi
Rumer Willis told People in an interview that she admires her mom and dad, and hopes her new family will represent their family characteristics.
“We’re a family of weirdos, and I love that so much,” Rumer Willis said. “I really hope that that is engendered in this child, just the silliness and goofiness. I think my mom had that. My dad had that. My sisters.”
“That’s my favorite thing,” she continued. “Laughing with my family. I have a crazy laugh and so does my partner, so I’m actually probably the most curious to see what it sounds like.”
The best advice her parents have given her so far? “You have no control over anything, and just have a lot of grace with yourself.”
Joy amidst chaos
Willis elaborated that with the whole family so excited about “this new tiny person”, everyone has been spending even more time together, and they are having a great time, though everyone is struggling with Bruce Willis’ frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore share two other daughters, Scout Willis, who is 31, and 29-year-old Tallulah Willis, while Willis and his wife, Emma Heming Willis, share daughters Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn, ages 11 and eight.
“I’m so grateful that I’m so close with my family and I get to rely on them for support,” Rumer continued. “They’re so excited. It’s so fun to be bringing in the first grandkid in our family, especially because we’re such a huge group at this point.”
“Because my youngest sister is eight, we haven’t had a little tiny baby in our family in a while,” she continued. “My sisters just keep saying, ‘I can’t wait to put their foot in my mouth, or just play with them. I’m so grateful that I’m so close with my family that I get to rely on them for support that way.”
