Given the level of success that the recently released Barbie film has enjoyed, it seems par for the course that a thematic park would follow suit. Fans young and old will soon be able to enjoy all of the trappings of the world that gave us the titular character and her beau, Ken.

Mattel to open park with Barbie World in 2024 in Arizona

According to reports, the first-ever Mattel Adventure Park will open in Glendale, Arizona in 2024. The park will feature the toymaker’s greatest hits with themed rides and attractions that will feature the likes of Barbie, Hot Wheels, He-Man, and more. Spread across nine acres, the park will form part of the larger $1 billion, 60-acre VAI Resort.

Where the Barbie zone is concerned, it’s understood that it will include the Dream Closet Experience, “where Barbie, through state-of-the-art hologram technology, is brought to life to help curate the ultimate wardrobe.” Additionally, there will also be Barbie’s Flying Theatre, where visitors will experience the greatest hits of destinations that Barbie has ventured to, such as deep space and underwater. If that wasn’t enough, patrons will also get to enjoy a rooftop bar situated on top of the Barbie Beach House. There guests can enjoy views of the park as well as a wide range of signature pink drinks.

Don’t like Barbie? No problem

Not the biggest fan of Barbie? No worries. As mentioned above the park will also feature attractions from Mattel’s other major brands such as a Hot Wheels-themed double-looping rollercoaster and go-karting experience, a 4,5000sq-ft laser tag arena based on Masters of the Universe’s main characters He-Man and She-Ra, along with the famous Castle Grayskull which was featured in both series. Reports indicate that there will also be a Thomas and Friends treasure hunt journey. Continuing with the list of attractions, reports have indicated that games such as Pictionary and Uno will be given new life via giant play and climbing structures and even a themed nine-hole mini golf course. The proposed park is the product of a partnership between Mattel and EPIC Resort Destinations and while no official opening date has been released, it’s widely expected that it will open its doors in 2024.

“We are extremely excited to add Barbie, Masters of the Universe, and Mattel Games-themed attractions and rides to an already outstanding offering in development at the first-ever Mattel Adventure Park,” Epic Resort Destinations president Mark Cornell said in a statement. “We have spared no expense to bring these iconic brands to life in ways that will delight visitors of all ages for years to come.” If you’re wondering, the location of the park is just 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. VAI Resort, of which Mattel Adventure Park is just one part, will be the largest resort in Arizona, thanks to more than 1,100 hotel rooms, 12 restaurants, a $40m concert venue, a six-acre swimming pool, and a man-made beach. That’s to say, prepare yourself.

How to get tickets for Barbie World?

As mentioned above, there is no official opening date for the park, and as such there are understandably no tickets available at this time. On the other hand, if you’d like to keep up to date with the park and everything that’s going on, you can actually watch the real-time video feed of construction and other developments. Be sure to keep checking as there will undoubtedly be updates coming soon.
