Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, learned about the singer’s second pregnancy at the same time as everyone else: during her Super Bowl halftime show performance.

During her 13-minute medley, the R&B singer’s baby bump was on full display, which had fans in a frenzy until the pregnancy was officially confirmed following the show’s conclusion.

Fenty is thrilled for Rihanna and told TMZ that he’s hoping for a granddaughter. He also shared his positive thoughts on Rihanna as a mother.

“She’s loving it. She’s a very overprotective mother,” he told Page Six.

“Everybody says [the baby] looks like me, but you know, babies change, faces change. He [resembles] a lot of Rihanna and Rocky together.”

Inspired through motherhood

Rihanna gave birth to her first child in May 2022 and has since opened up to Elle, expressing how motherhood changed her for the better.

“Becoming a mother has only added inspiration to my life,” she said. “I’ve had to find the balance between an efficient routine that maximizes precious ‘me’ time and full glam, because I really enjoy that colorful creative process.”

During a press conference with Apple Music she added: “When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world and do anything.

“The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. As scary as that was, because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all.

“And it’s important for me to do this, this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”

A rocky history

Rihanna and her father were not always on good terms. In 2019, the singer filed a lawsuit against him for exploiting the Fenty name for his own company, Fenty Entertainment.

She was reportedly suing him for $75 million, but dropped the lawsuit in September 2021.
