When does ‘Challengers’ premiere? Release date, cast and trailer for Zendaya’s romantic sports comedy
Zendaya’s romantic sports comedy film ‘Challengers’ will finally premiere in U.S. theaters on Friday, after initially being scheduled to launch last year.
Challengers, the romantic sports comedy film directed by Luca Guadagnino starring Zendaya will premiere in U.S. theaters on Friday, April 26. The movie already made its debut in Australia and some European countries.
The film also stars Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, and revolves around a love triangle among tennis players. Zendaya plays Tashi, a former tennis prodigy-turned-coach caught in the middle of an intense romantic entanglement.
Challengers was originally scheduled to be released commercially first in August, then in September last year, but the premier was pushed back due to the Screen Actors Guild strike.

What is the plot of Challengers?
In the movie, Tashi teams up with her husband, Art (played by Mike Faist), to participate in the Challengers tennis tournament to help him make a comeback.
However, complications arise when they encounter Patrick (played by Josh O’Connor), Tashi’s former lover and best friend, who happens to be their rival in the tournament.

Zendaya trains on the court
Guadagnino reportedly shared that Zendaya underwent three months of training with professional tennis coach and former player Brad Gilbert to prepare for her role.
Gilbert also served as a consultant for the film. Guadagnino collaborated with screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes and enlisted Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, known for their work on ‘Bones and All,’ to compose the film’s score.
Amy Pascal, the producer of Spider-Man: No Way Home, is among the film’s producers, along with Guadagnino and executive producer Bernard Bellew.
