With season 28 of ‘The Bachelor’ now complete, fans of ABC’s reality-show franchise are turning their attentions to the next instalment of ‘The Bachelorette’.

Update:
When does ‘The Bachelorette’ 2024 premiere? Season 21 schedule and info
ABC

Season 21 of The Bachelorette, starring 25-year-old Floridian Jenn Tran, is due to hit small screens in America this summer.

Who is Jenn Tran?

Tran, who is a physician assistant student from Miami, was a contestant on the latest season of the ABC reality show’s sister series, The Bachelor.

She was announced as the next Bachelorette during The Bachelor’s season 28 finale earlier this week - a show that saw 28-year-old tennis coach Joey Graziadei end up with Kelsey Anderson, a 25-year-old junior project manager from New Orleans, Louisiana. Tran will be the first Asian-American lead on The Bachelorette, and is something of a surprise pick.

Per Business Insider, her fellow Bachelor contestants Daisy Kent and Maria Georgas, who finished second and fourth, respectively, were considered the frontrunners to be the next Bachelorette. TV writer Reality Steve, who is a regular source of inside information on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, posted on X: “I mean, damn good job by them keeping it under wraps. Didn’t have any idea it was Jenn.”

Eliminated from The Bachelor in Week 7, Tran is described in her official ABC profile as “bubbly and compassionate”. She has “dedicated her life to helping others”, the network adds. “When she’s not studying, Jenn loves reading books like ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,’ paddleboarding, and traveling whenever she has the chance.”

When will The Bachelorette season 21 air?

In Monday’s season 28 finale finale, The Bachelor host Jesse Palmer confirmed that season 21 of The Bachelorette is to premiere on ABC in July 2024.

On The Bachelorette’s official Facebook page, ABC has offered fans of the show a sneak peek at the men who will be vying for Tran’s heart. The 28 contestants revealed by the showrunners are:

Also hosted by Palmer, an NFL player-turned-broadcaster, The Bachelorette has aired on ABC since 2003.

In its most recent season, Bachelor 28 star Graziadei narrowly lost out in the race for Charity Lawson’s affections. Lawson, 28, instead chose 30-year-old integrative medicine specialist Dotun Olubeko.
