When is the premiere of ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’? Release date, cast and trailer
Directed once more by Tim Burton, the cult classic sequel will also see the returns of Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
In case you weren’t aware, Beetlejuice, the cult classic fantasy-horror film from 1988, is getting a sequel 36 years later, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. A number of the stars of the original film returning, including Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
The original film grossed approximately $74.7 million and inspired the Tony-nominated musical of the same name, which ran on Broadway for four years.
Directed by Tim Burton, the movie starred Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Keaton as Beetlejuice, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, Jeffrey Jones as Charles Deetz, Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland and Alec Baldwin as Adam Maitland.

As well as Keaton and Ryder, Burton will be back in the director’s chair for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, while O’Hara will be returning too.
The sequel will, however, feature a number of new faces, including Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.
Ortega will play one of the lead roles as Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. Dafoe has been cast as a ghost detective who was a B movie star while alive, with Bellucci’s playing Beetlejuice’s wife. Theroux’s role has not been disclosed.
Davis and Baldwin, who played the deceased couple at the centre of the story in Beetlejuice, won’t reprise their roles.
What is the plot of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?
The plot for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was initially kept under wraps, although it was known that the sequel would focus closely on Ortega’s character.
In August 2023, cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos teased more details: “At its heart, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is a story about a family. And now it’s 30 years later and what are the intricacies and the human condition in keeping a family together all that time set in the craziest world possible?”
It has also come to light that wedding and funeral scenes have been shot, which backs up Zambarloukos comments that the sequel will be more emotive that the original.

When will Beetlejuice Beetlejuice be released in theatres?
Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, who worked on Netflix’s Wednesday’ wrote the screenplay, with filming beginning in May 2023, according to Variety.
It concluded at the end of November last year.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be release din theatres by Warner Bros. Pictures on 6 September 2024, the same day as Marvel’s ‘Blade’. The original film won an Academy Award in 1988 for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
