Brad Pitt’s latest movie is a sports drama involving life in Formula 1 racing: a high-octane production that is turning out to be excessively high-budget.
The as-yet untitled film was first announced in 2021, then began production last year but had to stop filming due to the writers’ and actors’ strike.
The high price of Brad Pitt’s sport drama
According to Screen Rant, the movie is looking to be Pitt’s most expensive project to date. It has a mammoth budget of $300 million, which would put it among the highest price tags in movie-making history, joining the ranks of the priciest fantasy and super-hero franchises.

Why is Brad Pitt’s new movie so expensive?
One factor in the high cost of the film is that it began production shortly before the strike of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. (SAG-AFTRA). The four-month work stoppage has caused delays, and in effect, significant increases in production cost.
Another reason for the bloated budget is the nature of the movie: actors are driving real racing cars, and this entails a lot of training and safety procedures, all of which spell a surge in spending.

When will Brad Pitt’s F1 movie be released?
The movie is being produced for Apple, but at the moment, it does not have a theater distributor, nor does it have a set release date yet, although according to Motor Sport Magazine, the producers are aiming for 2025. The magazine also says the movie is rumored to be titled “Apex.”
What is Brad Pitt’s newest movie about?
The sports drama focuses on the life of a fictional retired Formula 1 driver named Sonny Hayes.
After leaving the series after going through a car crash, he goes back to become a mentor and to partner up with a talented young driver named Joshua Pierce played by Damson Idris on the Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team.
Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton- one of the movie’s producers- will also make an appearance in the movie.
