Where is Taylor Swift’s favorite kebab shop? How much does a Swift kebab cost?
The singer placed an order for her crew at one of her favorite haunts in the capital, a kebab shop which featured in the promo video for her 2017 cut ‘End Game’.
Taylor Swift will take to the stage at Wembley later tonight for the first of eight sell-out shows that she will perform in the English capital this summer - equaling the record which Take That set at the same venue 13 years ago. London is a city that Taylor is more than familiar with. The pop megastar is believed to have briefly lived in north London when she was dating Joe Alwyn, following her split from Tom Hiddleston.
Taylor Swift’s London
It was reported that the couple shared a pad near Hampstead Heath and the hitmaker name-checks the area in a line from her song So Long, London, from her last album The Tortured Poets Department - “I left all I knew, you left me at the house, by the Heath”.
Casual walks through the sprawling, leafy Zone 2 park would have been a regular feature of Taylor’s life back then and it appears that London did leave a mark on her. Among her favorite haunts was the Grade II listed Spaniards Inn pub, where she was able to pop in and have a quiet drink in peace without being hassled. Another of Swift’s favorite watering holes was The Black Dog Freehouse pub on Spring Gardens, Vauxhall - a South London redbrick Victorian pub with a quiet beer garden, which was also referenced on the new album.
Both establishments are traditional British pubs serving freshly made food and Sunday roasts but Taylor also developed a taste for one of the staples of British nightlife - an institution which fuels many a heady night out on the tiles - the kebab.
Taylor’s penchant for flatbread filled with spiced & yogurt-marinated, flame-grilled chicken and salad dates back to her early days in the capital - moments she recalled in a scene from the promotional video for End Game in which she treats Ed Sheeran to a cheeky late night döner after a night hitting the clubs.
Late night munchies
Now she is back in London, ordering a kebab from her favorite take away joint was top of the list of priorities. Taylor’s production team placed an order for 45 kebabs from Kentish Delight, costing £450. According to reports, all tastes have been catered for vegetarian and non-veggie - a bumper batch of chicken shish kebabs and falafel wraps to get Swift and her team#s energy levels up for three stellar nights at Wembley as the Eras Tour enters over 100 shows.
Owner Ahmed Khan still remembers when Swift and Alwyn would pop in to order a takeaway kebab several times a month back in the day and has a photo of the singer taken during the shoot for End Game. Taylor would usually order a chicken doner kebab with salad, garlic mayo, and a dash of chilli sauce - all of which will cost you £11.47.
Located on Kentish Town Road NW5, about 50 minutes’ away from Wembley, legions of Swifties are expected to descend on the Khan’s kebab shop later tonight and over the next few days to sample his kebabs for themselves as they come down from their idol’s shows.
