Where was Survivor season 46 filmed?
CBS’ reality television series returned to the screen last month with three tribes: Nami, Yanu and Siga, tested to the limit.
Survivor is a reality competition television series, created by Charlie Parsons and hosted by Jeff Probst that has been running since May 2000. Considered to be one of the best reality shows of all time, it is also one of the longest running after CBS decided to renew for two new seasons in February 2023. Both Season 45 and 46 featured longer, 90-minute episodes to be able cram more action in and other favorites such as the return of the Survivor Auction in which the castaways bid for food and other survival aids.

The show has been nominated for a total of 67 Emmy Awards and has won seven times with host Jeff Probst winning the Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality - Competition Program four times (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011).
Season 46 follows the fortunes of the 18 castaways, split into three tribes: Nami, Yanu and Siga. Once again, the contestants range in age from David Jelinsky, the youngest at 22 to Maria Shrime Gonzalez, the eldest at 48. The tribes are whisked off to a remote, isolated location where they are forced to fend for themselves with limited resources, surviving by living off the land, finding food and potable water, making fires and building shelter for 39 days.
The game’s motto is “Outplay. Outwit. Outlast,” with contestants and tribes competing against each other in physical and mental challenges. After each episode, a contestant is are voted out until only one remains. The winner or “Sole Survivor” takes home a cash prize of $1 million.
Where is Survivor filmed?
Survivor been filmed in various locations around the world. Season 1 was filmed in Borneo while other locations include Nicaragua, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Panama and Samoa.
Since Season 33 (Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X) in 2016, the show has been shot in the secluded Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, nestled just off the coast of Nadi which has a sub-tropical climate all year round. Most of the islands are dormant volcanoes, formed along the Pacific Ring of Fire’s tectonic plate boundaries.
The Mamanuca Islands consist of 20 remote islands in the South Pacific Ocean, between the Equator and the Tropic of Capricorn. The island group is known for its pristine, crystal clear waters, palm tree-fringed, white sandy beaches, vibrant marine life and live coral reefs. Malolo is the largest island of the group, boasting two villages and five resorts. Season 36, Survivor: Ghost Island, was filmed on Malolo and the fifth to be filmed in Fiji.
Survivor airs on CBS on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT. Episode 4 “Don’t Touch the Oven” airs tonight, Wednesday 20 March 2024. It is also available on several streaming channels such as FuboTV, DirecTV Stream and Paramount+ - all of whom offer a free trial to new subscribers.
