“Barbie” went to be the highest grossing film of 2023 and became one of the fastest Warner Bros film to cross the $1 billion mark.


After battling it out at the box office last summer with one clear winner, it appears that Barbie and Oppenheimer will go toe to toe once again at the 2024 Oscar Award Ceremony on Sunday night with the Christopher Nolan set to secure the bulk of accolades in LA.

Both films were ‘must sees’ for very different reasons last year with some brave souls even opting for the ‘Barbie-heimer’ double header by watching both movies in one sitting.
Barbie became the highest grossing movie worldwide in 2023 with a worldwide Box Office collection of $1,4 billion and became the first movie from a solo female director to cross $1 billion at the Box Office. Barbie broke numerous records with one being the fastest Warner Bros film to cross $1 billion mark in 17 days, breaking the record held by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2″.

Christopher Nolan’s directorial Oppenheimer was beaten into third place in the top grossing films of the year by The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It did go on to collect $952,021,870 at worldwide Box Office and ranks third in the list of highest grossers of the year worldwide.
Produced at a cost of $100 million, it became the second-highest-grossing R-rated movie. It is a bio-drama based on the father of the atomic bomb starring Irish actor Cillian Murphy in the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer that became the highest-grossing biopic ever.
