Which star isn’t guaranteed to return for ‘Deadpool 3′?
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are set to be part of ‘Deadpool 3′, but a franchise mainstay may not be coming back.
‘Deadpool 3′ is slated to hit theaters on November 8, 2024, but a mainstay from the first two films may not feature in the third instalment.
Who’s status is up in the air for ‘Deadpool 3′?
Morena Baccarin played Vanessa Carlysle, fiancée to Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in the first two movies.
Her character was killed at the beginning of ‘Deadpool 2′ in a satirical nod to “fridging”, a storytelling device in which a female character is killed in order to help with the development of a male character.
However, the upcoming film is the first Deadpool instalment to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with the Multiverse now in play, everything is possible.
You only have to look at the fact that Huge Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine, but not as the one fans have come to know. That version was killed in 2017′s ‘Logan’, and Jackman has stated the upcoming film won’t alter that.
When Baccarin was asked about ‘Deadpool 3′ on the ‘Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum’ podcast, she revealed that while talks have occurred, terms have not been agreed.
“Yeah, what is up with ‘Deadpool 3′? That’s a really good question,” said Baccarin. “I have to be very diplomatic about what I say here.
“I’d like to be in it. They have called me about being in it. Right now, we have not agreed on terms, and everybody’s trying their best and doing their best. It may or may not work out. I don’t know.”
Baccarin on what to expect from ‘Deadpool 3′
‘Deadpool 3′ will see Reynolds and Jackman return as Deadpool and Wolverine respectively, as well as Karan Soni as Dopinder and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.
Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen have also been cast as yet to be named characters.
When talking about the upcoming film, Baccarin noted that fans should expect something different compared to the first two films following Marvel-Disney acquiring the franchise.
“I do think this movie, since Marvel-Disney acquired this Deadpool universe, they’re trying to reinvent it a little bit,” said Baccarin.
“This movie is going to be much more about Wolverine and Deadpool. So we’ll see. Hugh is going to be a huge part of it. I’m sure he’ll be great.”
