Who is Anthony Anderson, the host of the 2024 Emmy Awards?
The actor and comedian is set to host the upcoming awards ceremony, which will recognise the best television shows of 2023.
The 75th Emmy Awards take place on Monday, 15 January 2024. The ceremony is actually the 2023 Emmy Awards, postponed due to the writers’ strike.
The biggest show in television awards typically takes place in mid-September but the delay has only heightened anticipation for the event. The likes of ‘The Bear’, ‘Succession’ and ‘The Last of Us’ are expected to battle it out for the top awards.
At the centre of the evening’s entertainment will be Emmys host Anthony Anderson, who will lead proceedings for the very first time. The 53-year old actor and comedian is a graduate of Howard university and has built a reputation as one of the hardest workers in TV.
What has Anthony Anderson been in?
Anderson is perhaps best know for his work on ´Blackish’, the acclaimed ABC comedy. He was executive producer and played a starring role in the project, which ran for 176 episodes and received numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
He has also starred in ‘Law & Order’, ‘Scream 4′, ‘Kangaroo Jack’, ‘All About the Andersons’ and the ‘Bernie Mac Show’. He also appeared as a judge on ‘Iron Chef America’, a Food Network cooking competition.
From 2016 to 2022 he also hosted the ABC version of game show ‘To Tell the Truth’.

When Anderson was announced as the host, Fox’s president of unscripted programming Allison Wallach said: “After Anthony hosted our upcoming show, We Are Family, we knew he’d be a natural fit for a star-studded, anticipatory night like the Emmys. Anthony’s known for his humour, heart and spontaneity, so he’s sure to give audiences in the theatre and at home a night they’ll never forget.”
When is the Emmy Awards?
The ceremony is actually the 2023 Emmy Awards, although many have referred to it as the ‘2024 Emmys’. The event will be hosted at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.
The 75th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Fox and streamed on Hulu the following day. The awards show broadcast will begin at 8:00pm (ET) / 5:00pm (PT).
