The nominees for the 2026 Oscars - the awards’ 98th edition - are to be revealed in an event in Beverly Hills today.


The Oscar-nominated Danielle Brooks will be joined by Top Gun: Maverick actor Lewis Pullman in Beverly Hills today, as the pair announce the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards.
Brooks and Pullman are to host a live event from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, where the 2026 contenders will be revealed across 24 Oscars categories.
What to know about Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman
Brooks was a Best Supporting Actress nominee two years ago: the 36-year-old earned Academy Awards recognition for her performance in Blitz Bazawule’s 2023 big-screen adaptation of The Color Purple.
Based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel of the same name, the film was also inspired by the story’s Grammy-winning Broadway musical, in which Brooks likewise starred. Indeed, the Georgia native’s turn in The Color Purple’s stage version earned her a Tony nomination.
Brooks is also best known for excelling in the hit Netflix series Orange Is The New Black. The comedy-drama, which ran for seven seasons from 2013 to 2019, saw her share three Screen Actors Guild awards for outstanding ensemble cast.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Pullman is a Primetime Emmy nominee, having accrued a supporting actor nod for his performance alongside Brie Larson in the 2023 miniseries Lessons in Chemistry.
A year earlier, he had played his part in Maverick, Joseph Kosinski’s wildly successful sequel to the 1986 classic Top Gun. Having earned nearly $1.5bn at the global box office, Maverick is among the highest-grossing movies of all time.
The son of The Sinner lead Bill, Pullman also stars in the 2025 Marvel movie Thunderbolts, playing superhero-supervillain duo The Sentry and The Void. This year, he is set to return in the role in Avengers: Doomsday.

The nominees for the 98th Academy Awards are to be announced by Brooks and Pullman today, Thursday Jan. 22, from 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.

When are the 98th Oscars?
The 2026 Oscars are to take place on Sunday, Mar. 15, at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT. In the U.S., the gala is to air on ABC and Hulu. You can also stream ABC’s coverage on fubo, which offers new users a free, introductory trial.
Comedian Conan O’Brien is to host the Academy Awards for the second year in a row.
Who are the chief Oscars favorites?
Having enjoyed major success at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards this year, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another is the bookmakers’ favorite to scoop the Oscar for Best Picture. Anderson is likewise the frontrunner for Best Director.
In the Best Actor and Best Actress categories, respectively, Marty Supreme’s Timothée Chalamet and Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley are being heavily tipped to clinch their first career statuettes.
