Who is Jenn Tran, the new Bachelorette 2024? What we know about her
Back in March, ABC announced the next Bachelorette - vivacious former contestant Jenn Tran. From Monday, 25 suitors will be trying to win her affections.
The Bachelorette 2024 kicks off on Monday night with 26-year-old Jenn Tran as the star attraction, single, ready to mingle and hopefully, find the man of her dreams.
At the end of March, ABC announced that Jenn Tran will be the next Bachelorette. Of Vietnamese descent, Jenn is the first Asian Bachelorette since the series first aired in January 2003.
Fans of the series will already be familiar with outgoing, fun-loving Jenn as she was one of the contestants in the season 28 of The Bachelor. She made a memorable entrance racing into the mansion in a black go-kart and while she made a good impression going surfing on her date with Joey Graziadei, she was eliminated in Week 7.
Jenn Tran, self-confessed hopeless romantic
With the show to premiere on ABC this evening, Jenn revealed how she was feeling about it all to“Extra’s” Terri Seymour: “I’m honestly feeling really, really excited. I know what a historic moment this is going to be for so many people. It already has been since the anouncement. I can only be so excited for everyone to watch my journey unfold,” she explained.
“In the beginning, I definitely put a lot of pressure on myself to make a lot of people happy because I know what a historic moment this is, but I came to terms with the fact that I can only be as authentic to myself as I can be. That’s the best way to go about it. I’ve always wanted to find love, I’m a hopeless, romantic person and I’ve always wanted to find my partner. I’m ready to be in a serious committment,
Florida resident
Jennifer Jenn Tran studied at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a B.Sc degree in Molecular Biology from University of Wisconsin Madison. She hopes to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. In Season 28 of The Bachelor, Tran’s hometown was noted as Hillsdale, New Jersey although it’s believed that she is currently based in Miami.
As her ABC profile noted: “Jenn is bubbly and compassionate, and has dedicated her life to helping others. She is currently studying to become a physician assistant, and while she is passionate about working in health care, she is also ready to prioritize finding love. Jenn has had multiple serious relationships but is still looking for a man who’s as reliable and thoughtful as she is. When she’s not studying, Jenn loves reading books like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, paddleboarding, and traveling whenever she has the chance.
Fun and laughter
Jenn promises her future beau that “every day with me will be an adventure - we’ll always have a good time”. She has a flair for languages, she is bilingual, speaking fluent Vietnamese and also speaks Italian and Spanish.
She has done a lot of volunteer work with with various organizations addressing food insecurity within disadvantaged communities.
How and when can I watch The Bachelorette 2024?
“I feel so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian Bachelorette in this franchise,” Jenn told host Jesse Palmer. “I hope I find my person - the one that I truly feel like is 100 percent my perfect match. Someone I’m compatible with, someone who I can have fun with and just feel like we are each other’s person. What that really means right now, I don’t know but I think I’ll know when I find him.
“Growing up, I’ve always wanted to see Asian representation on TV. And I feel like it was really sparse. Any time Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype, and I felt really boxed in by that because I was like, ‘I don’t see myself on screen. I don’t see myself as a main character.”
Season 21 of The Bachelorette starts on Monday 8 July 2024 with the first episode airing at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC. Among the locations the production team visited during filming were Melbourne, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
