During Chris Stapleton’s performance of the American national anthem, Nick Sirianni, the Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach, got caught up in the emotional moment with tears streaming down his face.

The Super Bowl LVII is Sirianni’s first, so it’s understandable that his emotions are running high right now. Usually upbeat and positive, NBC describes Sirianni as the type of person to wear his heart on his sleeve.

This vulnerable moment is a testament to how much this game means to him and his incredible hard work to get here.

From Defensive Backs Coach to Head Coach

His coaching career began in 2004 where Sirianni was a defensive backs coach for Mount Union. From there, he was scouted by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he coached for three seasons.

Sirianni got his start in the NFL back in 2009. After becoming acquainted with Todd Haley, Kansas City Chiefs head coach, Haley eventually hired Sirianni as the offensive quality control coach for the Chiefs.

From here, Sirianni moved on to be an assistant quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach between 2010 and 2012.

Afterwards, he was hired to coach for the San Diego Chargers. Sirianni took on the titles of offensive quality control coach, quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach between 2013 and 2016.

Next he became a receivers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 and the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts from 2018 to 2020.

Finally Sirianni was brought on to be the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021.

Sirianni’s career history is both extensive and impressive. There’s no doubt that making it to the Super Bowl is a great accomplishment and now he’s got his eye on the prize.

According to Insider Sirianni said, “Our guys are locked in. We understand that there’s a lot of distractions with a lot of things that aren’t in our typical week.

“So we have to do our best to make sure that our routine stays the same in the midst of the madness. Our guys understand that.

“That’s been our message all week. Our guys, we’ve got a lot of guys on this team that have been to the top of the mountain.

“Won the Super Bowl. Have been in national championship games. Have won national championship games.”
