Who is part of the ‘Saturday Night Live’ club that Woody Harrelson is set to join?
Woody Harrelson will join an elite club in sketch comedy when he hosts the show on February 25.
While there is no new episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ on February 18, the series is gearing up for an action-packed trio of episodes in the coming weeks.
It all begins with Woody Harrelson, who is set to host the show with musical guest Jack White on February 25.
He’ll be followed by Kansas City Chiefs star and Super Bowl LVII winner Travis Kelce and musical guest Kelsea Ballerini on March 4, with Jenna Ortega and The 1975 rounding things out when they host on March 11.
Harrelson’s appearance is a special one
Harrelson’s appearance comes as he promotes his new film ‘Champions’, which hits theatres on March 10. The movie sees the 61-year-old play a minor-league basketball coach who is fired and gets in legal trouble.
As a result he’s forced to do community service, which includes him coaching a Special Olympics basketball team.
When Harrelson hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’, it will be his fifth time doing so, meaning he’ll join the prestigious Five-Timers Club.
“It means [hosting] one more than it did last time? No, no, it’s very exciting,” Harrelson told Collider. “I gotta say, I’m trying not to think about it because I get nervous because it’s live.
“I just get nervous about it, and particularly the monologue. So far, all it means is nerves, but at the end of the night, Saturday night, the 25th, I think it’s gonna mean some happiness.”
Who could welcome Woody Harrelson to the club?
When a new performer joins the Five-Timers Club, other members have been known to make a cameo on the episode.
That means names like Tom Hanks, Steve Martin or Tina Fey could appear, as well as Paul Rudd, who recently joined the club himself.
Although Harrelson is set to become a member of the group, he still has work to catch names like Alec Baldwin or Steve Martin.
Baldwin has made countless guest appearances on ‘Saturday Night Live’, but he’s also hosted the show a record 17 times. Martin is just behind him at 16, followed by John Goodman and Tom Hanks at 13 and 10 respectively.
