Who is Taylor Russell, the actress and model One Direction star Harry Styles has split from?
Styles and Russell kept their relationship away from the public eye but have reportedly broken up after 14 months.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, there’s no need to move over. Their status as Hollywood’s hottest couple appears to still be intact after reports that former One Direction star Harry Styles has split from girlfriend Taylor Russell.
Why did Harry Styles and Taylor Russell break up?
The singer and the Canadian actress and model have kept their relationship mostly under wraps since getting together 14 months ago, although the odd snap of them enjoying walks, holidays and concerts together has gone public.
Don’t expect to be seeing any more any time soon, however, with an insider revealing to the tabloid press in the United Kingdom that a recent trip to Japan had led to their break up. Although their words do offer some hope of a reconciliation in the future.
“Harry and Taylor have ended their relationship. They went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan and are taking some time apart.
“He’s been in America and she’s been in London. They made a lovely couple and it was obvious Taylor made Harry happy. Things have become strained recently though and they’ve taken some time out.”
Only weeks earlier, it had been claimed Styles saw his long-term future with the 29-year-old, with whom “he wanted children”.
What TV shows and movies has Taylor Russell been in?
Russell, born in Deep Cove near Vancouver in British Colombia, is of Jamaican descent through her father, although she grew up mostly with her mother’s side of the family, splitting her time between Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
She made he on-screen debut with a small role in medical drama “Emily Owens, M.D.” at the age of 18 in 2012, although her big breakthrough came in the Netflix science fiction series “Lost in Space,” in which she had a main role in each of its three seasons.
Critical acclaim on stage and screen
Since then, she has enjoyed commercial success in the psychological horror movie “Escape Room” and its sequel “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions,” while she has received overwhelmingly positive reviews for performances in other films she has appeared in, including psychological drama “Waves,” romantic drama “Words on Bathroom Walls” and romantic horror film (yes, those do exist) “Bones and All”.
Russell received the Marcello Mastroianni Award, given to emerging actors or actresses, at the Venice Film Festival in 2022 for her role in the latter.
In 2023, she transitioned to theatre and has been nominated for awards for her participation in “The Effect,” which has been at the Royal National Theatre in London and also had a short run on Broadway at The Shed in New York City.
Russell’s modelling career began in 2022 with a campaign for Spanish luxury brand Loewe. Subsequently, she was worked with Chanel and Prada, amongst others, which you may have seen in any number of magazines, including Vogue, V, Harpers Bazaar and The New York Times.
