Who killed Griselda Blanco’s children? What is known about their deaths
The three children, all with the surname Trujillo, were victims of retribution while Griselda was serving time in prison.
The premiere of the Netflix series Griselda has once again put Griselda Blanco, one of Colombia’s most infamous drug traffickers in back in the news. Sofía Vergara plays the black widow in this new film adaptation that has been involved in a small court battle over the testimonies and narratives used.
Apart from dedicating herself to illicit businesses, Griselda was the mother of four children. Uber Trujillo, Dixon Trujillo and Osvaldo Trujillo were born from her marriage to Carlos Trujillo - all of them were murdered in different circumstances. Her only surviving son, Michael Corleone was the product of her third marriage to Darío Sepúlveda. He is the only one still alive today.
Why were Griselda Blanco’s children killed?
The three children all with Trujillo surname were involved in the family business throughout their lives, so inevitably, they were targeted by Griselda’s enemies who had scores to settle while she was serving time in prison. That was why her third husband, Darío Sepúlveda, did not want his son Michael, under any circumstances, to be immersed in criminal activity or connected to the underworld. He only wanted a normal and peaceful life for him.

According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Osvaldo was murdered in a nightclub in Medellín, Colombia, in 1990. He was the victim of a violent assault at the hands of a group of hitmen while his mother was serving her sentence.
Uber was attacked during a drug deal and was eventually murdered by a criminal gang. He was the victim of an alleged settling of accounts due to the illicit businesses of his mother, whom they could not attack since she was in prison.
Finally, Dixon, who was arrested at the same time as Griselda, was murdered shortly after receiving his freedom in 1992. According to the Netflix series, he was murdered with a firearm while walking to his car.
Michael is the only member of the Blanco family who is still alive today. After spending several years continuing the family business, for which he was arrested on several occasions, he is now a recognized businessman and creator of ‘Pure Blanco’. This is a clothing brand with which he keeps his mother’s memory alive by printing her face in various designs.
However, in a television appearance on Univisión program Despierta América, which he attended to promote his book My mother, the godmother, Michael has revealed that one of his brothers is alive . “I don’t share it much, I think this is the first time I share it publicly, but I talk about it in my book,” he explained without giving more details about his identity.
