Who will host King Charles’ coronation concert?

Having finally announced a host, the soon-to-be crowned king now has the whole concert performance lined up.

Having finally announced a host, the soon-to-be crowned king now has the whole concert performance lined up.

King Charles’ coronation committee has lined up a host to emcee the concert for the big event, to take place May 7, the day after the coronation. Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are among the performers at the celebration.

The Windsor Castle coronation concert is to be hosted by Hugh Bonneville, who stars in the hit UK series, ‘Downton Abbey’ and the ‘Paddington’ franchise.

Who is Hugh Bonneville?

Queen Elizabeth appeared with Bonneville in a ‘Paddington Bear’ sketch comedy in June 2022 at her Platinum Jubilee party, and the actor helped Queen Consort Camilla collect and donate some of the late monarch’s tribute gifts left at the gates of the palace after the queen’s passing.

“I’m delighted to be taking part in this unique event,” Hugh Bonneville said, “celebrating the best of musical entertainment in honor of His Majesty’s coronation.

“In true British style, come rain or shine it will be a night to remember.”

The grand collaboration

King Charles and Queen Consort Camila have lined up an evening of entertainment excellence in honor of the crowning ceremony.

The Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal College of Music, and the Royal College of Art are all planning a grand collaborative performance featuring Ncuti Gatwa and Mei Mac, as announced by the BBC.

Calling all Hollywood royal ambassadors

Katy Perry, ambassador of the British Asian Trust, Prince Charles’ organization to help people struggling with poverty in South Asia, and Lionel Richie, who is First Global Ambassador and First Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group for The Prince’s Trust, and Andrea Bocelli are scheduled to perform.

“The concert will celebrate a new chapter in the nation’s history, with themes of love, respect and optimism, celebrating the four nations, their communities and the Commonwealth,” the BBC said.
