Mathew Rosengart became one of the most popular men in November 2021 after freeing Britney Spears from the guardianship of her father, James Parnell, to which she had been tied to since 2008. Now, three years after victory in his most high-profile case, the emblematic lawyer has decided to part ways with the Princess of Pop.

Why will Mathew Rosengart no longer represent Britney Spears?

As revealed to CNN by a source with inside knowledge, the reason why Mathew will no longer represent Britney is very simple: all the litigation related to her former guardianship have been resolved and the singer has completely regained her independence.

Although the interpreter of ‘Oops!… I did it again’ was freed from her father’s guardianship at the end of 2021, the final aspect of the case was closed just two months ago, when Rosengart reached an agreement with James to end the dispute over legal fees. It finally closes a bitter chapter in the life of the Princess of Pop, while Mathew will focus his work on the cases of other clients.

At the time, he issued a statement: “It has been our honor and privilege to represent, protect, and defend Britney Spears. Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled legal proceedings in this matter”.

Who is Mathew Rosengart?

Mathew Rosegart is a former federal prosecutor and current trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice. Today, he works as a partner at the firm Greenberg Traurig, based in Los Angeles, California.

The former prosecutor joined Britney's case during the summer of 2021, after the pop star pleaded with the judge to have her own lawyer. The court granted Britney and the artist's request got rid of the public defender who had worked on most of his case to hire Mathew.

With only two months representing Britney Spears, Mathew managed to remove James as his client’s guardian and, just weeks later, he achieved the end of the superstar’s guardianship, establishing himself as “the savior” of the Princess of Pop.

In addition to Britney, Mathew’s other well-known Hollywood clients include Sean Penn, Steven Spielberg and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, to name a few.
