Why is ‘The Flash’ so significant to the DC Universe?
James Gunn declares ‘The Flash’ as the film that “resets the entire DC universe.”
Co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn has proclaimed the production house’s upcoming film ‘The Flash’ to be a gamechanger in the DC Universe, as he looks ahead to new productions that ‘The Flash’ paves the way for.
The movie is set to be the foundation of an entire new way DC portrays its characters and storylines.
‘The Flash’ is scheduled for theater release on June 16.
‘The Flash’ opens doors for films to come
Gunn has said that ‘The Flash’ “resets the entire DC universe” and sets the stage for the studio’s further upcoming movies, a ‘Superman: Legacy’ sequel about Clark Kent in his younger years, a ‘Batman’ sequel based on Grant Morrison’s comic ‘The Brave and the Bold comic’, and a ‘Wonder Woman’ series on HBOMax.
The filmmaker is also looking to make an ‘Aquaman’ sequel as well as ‘Lost Kingdom’, which is expected to be released December 20, 2023.
Early reviews on ‘The Flash’
Andy Muschietti, a filmmaker who caught a preliminary screening of the film at CinemaCon in Los Angeles on Monday, commented on the outcome of the new DC Universe campaign.
Muschietti had a chance to see the not-yet-finished cut of the film and thus get a glimpse before the general public into Gunn’s latest efforts.
“As you know, this is not the final version,” the filmmaker said. “What you saw is not the version that you will see in [theaters] June 16.”
“There’s a lot of surprises,” Muschietti continued. “That’s the great thing... You asked me, is this a timeline where some things are similar and some things are not, the answer is yes. Now, if you want to know more, go watch the movie and pay the ticket [price]. What I’m saying is you might reformulate your question and I will be there to answer.”
