Why Taylor Swift won’t be able to watch Travis Kelce play for the Chiefs until December

NFL star Kelce will have to make do without the support of Chiefs’ No.1 fan Taylor Swift over the next few weeks.

Travis Kelce’s NFL press conferences have taken an interesting turn since he got together with Taylor Swift. Ahead of the Kansas City Chief’s game against the Miami Dolphins at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany, the tight end was asked about the couple’s “latest status” and whether he was in love. He was spotted at a Taylor Swift concert in Argentina on the Chief’s bye week, which confirm that things are going well for the new power couple.

Kelce and Swift’s relationship status

“The latest status is that I got to see her last week. That’s the latest status right there,” came the response to the first part, while “I’m going to keep my personal relationship personal,” was Kelce’s business-like response to the second.

The “Cruel Summer” singer has been a regular fixture at the Chiefs’ home games in recent times and even followed them to New Jersey when Travis and his teammates faced the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium at the start of October.

Kelce flew down to Buenos Aires to support his biggest fan. The Chiefs didn’t play in Week 10 of the NFL season thanks to a bye week for the team from Kansas City.

The Chiefs’ TE has opened up recently in an interview on the Wall Street Journal about how they met and his relationship with the pop icon.

“Travis and Taylor are all in. The two are very into each other and are enjoying their time together but are also planning for the future. Taylor starts her international tour in November, and Travis is planning to be there to spend time with her,” a source told ET.

Swift’s Eras Tour clashes with Chiefs’ NFL schedule

That international tour is, of course, Swift’s Eras Tour, the next leg of which began at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires on Sep. 9. The pop superstar left for Argentina from New York, where she was spotted having a girls’ night with famous friends Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and Sophie Turner, as well as Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

After three gigs in Buenos Aires, Swift moved on to Brazil, where she plays another three dates each in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, finishing the South American leg of the Eras Tour on Nov. 26.

As a result, in addition to missing Kelce’s trip to Germany, the earliest date at which could be back in the stands cheering on the Chiefs is Dec. 3, when they travel to the Green Bay Packers. The next time we could potentially see the singer again at Arrowhead Stadium, meanwhile, is on Dec. 10, when the Buffalo Bills visit Arrowhead stadium.

Would Swift be able to watch Kelce and the Chiefs play in the Super Bowl?

Clearly, there are no guarantees Kelce’s Chiefs, the defending champions, will play in Super Bowl LVII, which takes place on Feb. 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. But, for fun, let’s just imagine they do.

Swift plays the last of four concerts in Tokyo, Japan the night before, which is set for 6 p.m. local time (4 a.m. ET). The show is said to last a little under three hours, which means she would get off stage just before 9 p.m (7 a.m. ET).

A quick search suggests the fastest you could fly directly from Tokyo to Las Vegas is around 10-and-a-half hours, so if she were to hop on a private jet right outside Tokyo Dome at 7:00 a.m. ET (which clearly won’t happen), she could arrive in Nevada at around 5:30 p.m. ET, an hour before Super Bowl LVII kicks off.

When you factor in travel time from the airport to Allegiant Stadium...let’s call it an optimistic “maybe”.
