Why Taylor Swift’s song ‘High Infidelity’ is trending on April 29
Swifties have declared April 29 as ‘High Infidelity’ Day’ and this is why.
Taylor Swift fans have claimed an entire day as their own, dubbing April 29 as ‘High Infidelity Day’ and making ‘High Infidelity’ trend on Twitter throughout the day.
‘High Infidelity’ is a track from the extended version of Swift’s 2022 album ‘Midnights 3 am Edition’, with lyrics that ask the listener:
“Do you really want to know where I was April 29th? / Do I really have to chart the constellations in his eyes?”
“Do you really want to know where I was April 29th? / Do I really have to tell you how he brought me back to life?”
After only six months since the song was released, Swifties took over social media with plenty of memes and jokes in celebration of the song.
Ahead of her day two performance in Atlanta for her ‘Eras Tour’, many fans are speculating that she’ll play the song during tonight’s set.
Swifties take over social media
“Happy high infidelity day,” one fan tweeted, sharing an edited ‘Mean Girls’ meme with the ‘High Infidelity’ lyrics instead.
“i cant believe april 29 never existed until taylor swift invented it,” another fan tweeted.
“watch her do high infidelity on june 10th or something just because,” someone else joked.
“happy high infidelity day to those who observe,” wrote another Swiftie.
Who is ‘High Infidelity’ about?
As Swift is known for basing many of her songs on her life love and whoever she happens to be dating at the moment, fans have done their research in figuring out who ‘High Infidelity’ is about.
Fans speculate that the song is about the time she allegedly first met her latest ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, while still dating Calvin Harris on April 29, 2016, at Gigi Hadid’s 21st birthday party, days before the 2016 Met Gala where many believe they actually first met.
Will she perform the song on April 29?
Fans are hoping she’ll take the opportunity to sing the song, on none other than April 29, as one of the surprise songs she has been adding to different shows throughout her tour.
At Friday’s Atlanta show, the singer performed ‘Other Side of the Door’ from her 2008 album ‘Fearless’, and debuted the live performance of ‘Coney Island’, from her 2020 album, ‘Evermore’.
