Will Spice Girls reunite for King Charles’ coronation?
The Spice Girls, including Victoria Beckham, could be part of the three-day celebration.
The Spice Girls are reportedly in talks to perform at King Charles III’s Coronation in May.
It’s rumored that the pop icons, including Victoria Beckham, may come together once again as a part of the huge royal three-day celebration.
An insider for The Sun says that the group, who last performed together during the closing ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics, could be back together as a group of five yet again.
“Royal organizers are super keen to secure Britain’s biggest girl band and the Spice Girls are seriously pondering a return to the stage as a five-piece for such a historical event,” the source told the publication.
“Certainly, the reality is that the coronation is as special as The Olympics - a one-off celebration and unique performance. There is a general sense that a reunion could happen for something this significant.”
Mel B may have been hinting at the reunion during an appearance on the daytime talk show ‘Sherri’ last week.
“I can’t tell you exactly, but there’s going to be something that is going to be announced pretty soon,” she said before adding that she’s “probably going to get told off” for letting any details slip.
“It is a project that we’re very excited about,” she added. ”It will be all five of us.”
In the same interview, Mel B opened up about her disappointment at the girls not being able to perform at the late Queen’s Jubilee concert in June last year.
“With us girls, there is so much that we would like to do but there are four, five, people involved with families and other commitments and responsibilities,” she said. “So, I think that was something that we had to miss.
“We weren’t happy about having to miss it, but yeah, sometimes things don’t work out.”
The Spice Girls last reunited for a stadium tour in 2019, but Posh Spice (Beckham) declined to join them.
However, there are no hard feelings between the girls, as Mel B confessed in an interview last year that getting everyone back together “would be the ultimate dream.”
“The door is always open for Victoria, we would love to see her back. We keep our fingers crossed,” she said.
King Charles’ three-day Coronation celebrations will take place between Saturday, May 6, and Monday, May 8, 2023.
