Will The Cure tour in the US to promote new ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ album?

Following some early ‘rave reviews’ ahead of the release of The Cure’s 14th studio album: ‘Songs of a Lost World’, anticipation ahead of it’s 1 November release is soaring.

This is the band’s first new music since the 2008 4:13 Dream album, a record which left many Cure fans underwhelmed with the release which ended up being both a critical and commercial disappointment for the Robert Smith fronted band.

The band continued to conduct a series of global tours over the years with the group still a phenomenal live force famous for their three hour plus live shows but a sepulchral radio silence ensued when it came to releasing new music.

Fast forward to 2022 and the band embarked on a 90-date live tour over 2022/2023 entitled ‘Shows of a Lost World’ where several of the new tracks got a live airing but at that time there was still no confirmed release date for what is set to be the band’s fourteenth studio offering with the release being finally confirmed in September.

The eight track album will be released commercially across seven physical formats along with a digital release with the two lead up singles ‘Alone’ and ‘A Fragile Thing’ already firm fan favourites.

The Cure on tour?

To mark the release of ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, the band are planning on playing two London shows – one for BBC Radio 2 on 30 October and another intimate album release show at Troxy on 1 November with the few tickets being made available to the public now like gold dust.

At the present, the band have no further tour dates in the diary.

However, in a recent interview with radio presenter, Matt Everitt, Robert Smith admitted that the band will probably skip the 2025 festival circuit and head out on tour again in autumn 2025, with dates set to invariably include the USA and this will then lead into 50th-anniversary concerts in 2026 with a career spanning documentary expected in 2028.
