Will there be a ‘John Wick 5’?
‘John Wick 5′ might not be happening, but Reeves is scheduled to appear in the franchise’s spin-offs
The ‘John Wick’ team could not have foreseen the success of the action thriller franchise starring Keanu Reeves, as the success of each move has far surpassed its predecessors.
The universe John Wick finds himself in is complicated and risky, as Wick goes from being an average man with a target on his back, to a world-class assassin, to the world of assassins’ Most Wanted by the end of the third edition.
‘John Wick 5′ depends on two major factors
Though each ‘John Wick’ installment is more successful than the last, with ‘John Wick 4′ expected to be the biggest one yet, the series might come to an end after its release.
According to Keanu Reeves, there are no concrete plans for ‘John Wick 5′.
“The only reason we’ve had a chance to make these movies,” Reeves said, “is that people have liked what we have done.”
“So I think we have to wait and see how the audience responds to it,” the Canadian-born actor continued. “Hopefully, they’ll like it.”
Reeves’ response has been interpreted by fans to mean that unlike ‘John Wick 3′, the fourth chapter will have a definitive ending.
The franchise’s director, Chad Stahelski, who has had some health struggles, has said that he doesn’t know if he is up for a fifth installment of ‘John Wick’, but there are spin-offs in the works.
“It is the studio’s intention to continue the franchise,” the director said. “In loyalty to the franchise, I need to get a hell of a lot better before I try to find [another story].”
Much of the film’s intense, action-packed scenes and epic stunts are due to Stahelski, who is a trained stunt coordinator, so fans worry that a fifth ‘John Wick’ without Stahelski wouldn’t measure up.
The ‘John Wick’ spinoffs
There are two ‘John Wick’ spinoffs in the works.
The assassins’ safe haven, ‘’The Continental’ is to be made into a series based in the ‘70s that will focus on the storyline of a young Winston, who goes on to be the proprietor of ‘The Continental’ for four decades.
The series will be on Peacock and Mel Gibson, Colin Woodell, and Ray McKinnon have been cast so far.
Ana de Armas is starring in ‘Ballerina’ as another deadly assassin in John Wick’s world, directed by Len Wiseman, who made ‘Underworld’ and ‘Live Free or Die Hard’.
The best part is, Keanu Reeves has agreed to reprise his role as John Wick in both productions.
