Wonka: US Release date in the USA, duration, cast and where to buy tickets

A new film about the fictional character Willy Wonka hits theaters in the United States this month. The Warner Bros release will focus on the early years of the famous chocolatier and the obstacles he faced practicing his craft as he was starting out.

“Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, Wonka tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today,” notes the film’s synopsis.

This prequel takes place before the events of Roald Dahl’s book and tells of the “vivid and mythical beginnings of the young and imaginative inventor before becoming the renowned and delicious Mozart of chocolate,” according to Warner Bros promotional sheet.

The Wonka cast

The film stars Timothée Chalamet, who had the inevitable task of living up to the previous incarnations of the character - such as Gene Wilder’s iconic portryal in the 1971 release, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, or Johnny Depp’s take on the chocolatier in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005.

The 2023 film features a star-studded the cast which includes: Olivia Colman, Hugh Grant, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Matt Lucas, Simon Farnaby, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones among others.

Wonka: Release date in the USA and where to buy tickets…

The film has already been released in various parts of the world, however, it has not yet reached the United States. The release date is scheduled for Friday December 15, but some theaters will have it available from the 14th. Wonka has a duration of 1 hour and 56 minutes, according to the portal IMDb.
