Zac Efron follows ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens on Instagram

Zac Efron has followed Vanessa Hudgens once again on Instagram, exciting dormant fans of the couple. The actor followed the Caliwater co-founder on Monday, adding her to the list of 277 accounts he follows.

However, Hudgens has yet to follow her ex-boyfriend back. It’s possible, the actress has yet to notice as she follows over 1700 accounts.

Vanessa and Zac’s relationship history

The couple began dating in 2005 after the two shared on-screen chemistry in the ‘High School Musical’ movie franchise. The two played the role of basketball player Troy Bolton and decathlete Gabriella Montez, an unlikely couple.

The two instantly became iconic couples for fans of the movie franchise. The couple stayed together for two more movies and went on to support each other’s careers even after the movies ended.

Throughout their relationship, the two wore matching silver rings on their right index finger, which fans quickly speculated that they were engaged or the two were sporting promise rings.

“This is just a ring from a friend that I got. It’s a female friend, but I can’t say who because then it would be chat-room pandemonium and teen-magazine hysteria,” Efron told Rolling Stone at the time.

Two years later, Hudgens would dismiss rumors she is engaged as well. “I think [marriage and starting a family] is great but I’m so focused on my career right now that it doesn’t really cross my mind,” Hudgens told PEOPLE at the time.

Eventually, the couple would call it quits in December 2020. The couple remained friends at the time and Hudgens later admitted that the long distance was a major strain on their relationship.

“We’re still friends. Who knows what the future will bring. We’re figuring things out,” Hudgens said in late December 2010.

Four years later in April, Efron would reveal to The Hollywood Reporter that the two are no longer in contact but he has nothing but positive things to say about Hudgens.

Where is the former couple now?

Over ten years later, both Hudgens and Efron have moved on it seems. Hudgens is currently engaged to Major League Baseball player Cole Tucker.

The two got engaged at the end of 2022 during their romantic trip to Paris in November. Meanwhile, Efron has dated several women after Hudgens, most recently he was linked to model Vanessa Valladares.

However, the two called it quits after 10 months of dating in early 2021. The split was reportedly caused by busy schedules and the distance between the two.
