Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has announced that his tour will be postponed until January due to the death of Liam Payne this week.

Given the heartbreaking loss I experienced this week, I’ve decided to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour. The dates will be rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the coming days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates,” the singer shared on social media. Zayn ended the post by thanking his fans for understanding and sending them love.

Liam Payne died on the afternoon of October 16 after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to the forensic medical team of the Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina, the singer died immediately from the impact of the fall, which caused “multiple trauma and internal and external bleeding.”

Zayn Malik's message to say goodbye to Liam Payne

Following Payne's passing, the former members of One Direction have joined together to say goodbye to the singer in a joint statement. In addition, each of them, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan dedicated a few words separately to pay tribute to their friend.

“Liam, I found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you could hear me, I can’t help but selfishly think that there were so many more conversations to be had in our lives,” Malik began in a message shared on his social networks.

I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the toughest times in my life. When I was homesick as a 17-year-old kid, you were always there with a positive outlook and a reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved,” he continued.

Zayn also acknowledged that “when it came to music, Liam, you were the most qualified in every way.” I knew nothing in comparison, I was a rookie kid with no experience and you were already a pro. I was always happy to know that no matter what was happening on stage, we could always rely on you to know which direction to steer the ship next,” he noted.

The Pillowtalk singer also noted that he will cherish all of his memories with Payne: “I lost a brother when you left us and I can’t tell you what I would give to give you one last hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you so much. I will cherish all of the memories I have with you in my heart forever.”

There are no words that can justify or explain how I feel right now other than devastation. I hope that wherever you are right now, you are well, at peace, and know how loved you are,” she concluded.
