$1,000 checks on July 15 in California: Who will receive them?

Another $1,000 payment is due to be sent 15 July for those participating in the Breathe Program, one of several guaranteed income programs in California.

$1,000 checks on July 15: Who will receive them?

Dozens of cities around the nation have implemented guaranteed income programs. The idea behind them is that they will help decrease poverty by giving beneficiaries a set amount of money each month regardless of whether they are working or not.

California is home to a number of these programs. Last year, Los Angeles County launched the Breathe Program, a monthly financial aid for low-income people, which provides chosen qualifying participants with $1,000 per month.

The program first opened applications on March 31, 2022 and closed on April 13 of the same year. Subsequently, the payments began to be sent in June of last year. Since then, every month, Breathe Program beneficiaries receive a monthly payment of $1,000 dollars and will continue to receive it until August 2025. As well, a second enrollment recently took place.

Regarding this month’s payment, these beneficiaries could see their payments reflected as of July 15. These beneficiaries were randomly selected last year after applying for the program. These payments are deposited each month on to debit cards.

$1,000 monthly checks in California 2023

Building on the success of the Breathe Program last year, Los Angeles County residents launched a second call to receive $1,000 per month for two years.

To be eligible for the program, individuals must be residents of Los Angeles County, be at least 21 years old but under the age of 24 as of September 1, 2023, and have been in foster care up to or after age 18. They must also have an income equal to or less than 100% of the area median income for a one person household or 120% for a two-or-more-person household.

The applicants must also have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The reception of applications closed on July 3, and only 200 people will be chosen.

If you applied, you must wait for administrators to contact you if you are selected. Program administrators will use the contact information you provided in your application. An email will also be sent to applicants who were not selected as part of the program.
