Who can request the $1,000 refund?

This program is intended to benefit Pennsylvania residents aged 65 and older, widows and widowers aged 50 and older, as well as people with disabilities aged 18 and older. Aside from belonging to one of these groups, applicants must also have an income that falls within the program’s established limits. The amount of the refund they receive will also depend on this.

Here are the income and amount limits.

IncomeRefund amount
$0 - $8,000$1,000
$8001 - $15,000$770
$15,001 - $18,000$460
$18,000 - $45,000$380

Some people may be eligible for supplemental rebates of between $190 and $500. This amount is automatically calculated for homeowners with income of $30,000 or less whose property taxes make up more than 15% of their total income, as well as for those who live in Philadelphia, Scranton and Pittsburgh.

To be able to verify their information, applicants must provide documents to prove their age, income, property tax payments or rent paid, and their county school district code.
