$1,800 Social Security checks: Exact mailing dates in June 2023

In June, millions of beneficiaries will receive their Social Security payments, which can reach up to $1,800 per month. Below are the scheduled dates.

Each month, the Social Security Administration sends money to millions of people in the United States.

This includes retired workers, recipients of Supplemental Security Income, as well as remitting disability and survivor benefits. It’s now time to send payments of more than $1,800 for the month of June.

Monthly Social Security checks: How much will be sent in 2023?

Payments are calculated on an individual basis based on the “Primary Insurance Amount”. In addition, the amount of benefits may be affected by the age of the beneficiaries, as well as the increase in the cost of living adjustment.

This year, thanks to the 8.7% increase in the COLA, average retiree payments increased to approximately $1,827, the SSA revealed in January. The maximum benefit for those who retire at age 62 is $2,572 per month, $3,627 per month for workers retiring at full retirement age (67), and $4,555 for those retiring at age 70 or later.

Meanwhile, median payments for Supplemental Security Income recipients are around $600. As for the maximum monthly SSI benefit, it is up to $914 for an individual and $1,371 for a married couple where both spouses are eligible for the program.

According to the schedule, SSA sends SSI payments on the first day of each month. However, for some months two payments are sent, and for others none is sent. In June, SSI recipients will receive two payments.

On the 3rd day of every month, the SSA sends money to those who began receiving their Social Security payments before May 1997. All other Social Security checks are sent based on recipients’ birthdays:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day
  • Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and 31st

Exact dates for mailing Social Security payments in June:

  • 1° June: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipient
  • June 2: Payees who began receiving payments before May 1997
  • June 14: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 1 and 10
  • June 21: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 11 and 20
  • June 28: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 21 and 31
  • June 30: SSI Recipients (July Payment)

Why are two SSI payments sent in June?

SSI recipients will receive their June payment on the first day of the month. In addition, they will receive a second payment on June 30. This is because the first day of July is a Saturday, so the payment for that month is sent the Friday before. That’s why in June, SSI recipients will receive two payments, while in July they will receive none.
