$1,900 Social Security checks: Exact payment dates in September 2024
A new month has begun and the Social Security Administration will begin sending checks for September. Here is the complete schedule of payments.
The Social Security Administration is preparing to send September payments to retired workers, survivors, and those who belong to the Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income programs.
The payment schedule indicates that Supplemental Security Income benefits are sent on the first day of each month, while on the third day, money is sent to people who began receiving their retirement benefits before May 1997.
The rest of the Social Security checks for retirees, survivors and those receiving disability are sent on Wednesdays, according to the beneficiaries’ day of birth:

How much money is sent each month to beneficiaries of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income?
Thanks to the cost-of-living adjustment for 2024, the average payments for retired workers rose to just over $1,900. The average payments for surviving spouses with two children are approximately $3,653. Other payment amounts are as follows:
Maximum Supplemental Security Income payments have risen to $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples this year. The average monthly supplemental payment is $698. Individuals under the age of 18 receive $814 on average, those aged between 18 and 64 receive $742 per month, and adults age 65 or older receive about $574.
Meanwhile, the maximum retirement benefit at age 62 is $2,710, at age 65 it is $3,426, and at age 66 it is $3,652. The maximum payments claimed at full retirement age (67 for people born after 1960) are $3,822. Those who delay retirement until age 70 are eligible for a maximum payment of $4,873.
