Where can I vote in Michigan?

If you are yet to vote in the Michigan you are likely waiting to do so on Election Day, as the majority of Americans still do. Registered voters in the state must vote at their designated polling place, which may have changed from previous years.

You can check the location of your polling place, and where to find your clerk’s office, on the Michigan Voter Information Center.

On Election Day the polls will be open from 7am to 8pm local time. Bear in mind that as long as you are in the line at 8pm, you have the right to wait to cast your vote.

Do I need an ID to vote in Michigan?

Voters in Michigan will be asked to show some form of identification before voting. However you will be able to cast a vote regardless, provided you sign a form explaining that you were not able to produce any ID. The only exception is in the case of first-time voters, who are required by federal law to show ID before they vote for the first time.

To make the process as simple as possible, remember to bring one of the following forms of ID along with your on Election Day:

- Michigan state ID

- Driver’s license or personal identification card issued by any state or federal government

- American passport

- Military photo ID

- Student photo identification

- Tribal photo identification
