It’s time for the Best Supporting Actors... With around seven weeks until the glitzy event itself, Hollywood’s film academy announced this year’s Oscar nominees on Tuesday morning. Some were expected, others a bit of a surprise, but either way, everyone can now begin their preparations for the movie industry’s highest awards.

The Academy Awards ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at Ovation Hollywood, the renamed Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, on 12 March, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET. This will be Kimmel’s third time hosting the awards.

Let’s take a look at those nominations for Best Supporting Actor.

2023 Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actor nominations

Brendan Gleeson - The Banshees of Inisherin

Ke Huy Quan - Everything Everywhere All at Once

Barry Keoghan - The Banshees of Inisherin

Brian Tyree Henry - Causeway

Judd Hirsch - The Fablemans

How are the Oscar 2023 winners decided?

Winners will be voted on by the roughly 10,000 actors, producers, directors and film craftspeople who make up the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The academy added more women and people of color to its ranks after the ‘OscarsSoWhite’ uproars of 2015 and 2016, and it also increased membership from outside the United States.
