2023 NYC Marathon: Race route and start times
This Sunday, 5 November, another edition of the New York Marathon will take place. This is the route for 2023 and what time the big race starts.
The New York Marathon returns to the Big Apple! This coming Sunday, 5 November, millions of athletes will gather in Staten Island for the fifty-third edition of the city’s most important sporting event: The New York Marathon.
According to information from the event’s official website, this year’s race is expected to bring with it the participation of more than 50,000 runners. In addition, it will be the most “advanced” edition in the history of the Marathon thanks to the implementation of new technology.
“The TCS New York City Marathon is already New York’s biggest block party, and New York Road Runners has seen unprecedented demand and attention for the race this year,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, CEO of New York Road Runners (NYRR). “We are thrilled to be launching new activations that will elevate the fan and spectator experience further... we can now bring running fans closer to the action.”
What time does the marathon start and what is the route?
The 53rd edition of the New York Marathon will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. local time and will travel a total of 26.2 miles.
The race will start at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island and will travel through the five boroughs of New York City, passing through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx, to conclude in Central Park. Below is the official map with the route of the 2023 New York Marathon.
Throughout the race, participants will be able to find various stations with water and Gatorade, as well as Science in Sport energy gels and bananas to boost their energy.
