Alaska: Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

For the past 41 years, the Alaska government has shared oil investment revenues with state residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend program. This year, the payment per applicant is $3,284.

The state is sending a refund of $250 for individual taxpayers, $375 for head-of-household taxpayers, and $500 for couples filing jointly. People are eligible if:

  • They filed their Individual Income Tax Return for taxable year 2021 and taxable year 2022 before the deadline of April 18, 2023 (or before October 16, 2023 if an extension was granted).
  • They had a tax liability for tax year 2021.
  • They are Georgia residents or part-time residents.

To find out if you are eligible, you can go to the Georgia Department of Revenue web portal.

On May 1, Governor Brian P. Kemp and the Georgia Department of Revenue announced that the first round of payments has been issued. Refunds are sent based on the regular refund instructions provided on the taxpayer’s return.

If the taxpayer chose the direct deposit option in their return, the money will be sent through that method. On the other hand, taxpayers who have expressed that they wish to receive their checks via postal mail will receive them in this manner.

The DOR anticipates that all refunds for those who filed before the April 18 deadline will be issued within the next 8 weeks. People who received a filing extension will not receive their refunds until their returns have been filed, by October 16.
