$350 for a coffee: Content creator disappointed with the beverage: “It tasted like some sort of fruit”
London-based YouTuber Carmie Sellitto tried out the most expensive coffee in the UK at a speciality Mayfair bar. Was it worth it?

Coffee culture is one of the hottest trends around and never ceases to evolve. Enjoying a speciality caffinated brew is an experience that many are willing to pay top prices for. From limited edition, freshly-ground blends to the classic luxury coffees such as Jamaica Blue Mountain, the choice on offer for coffee connoisseurs is endless.
Content creator brings new meaning to the term “flat white”
Some coffee lovers will go to extremes in search of a quality brew. London-based YouTuber Carmie Sellitto is one such example. Sellitto headed to London’s exclusive Mayfair district to sample the most expensive coffee currently available in the United Kingdom.
Japan Typica Natural coffee is the priciest item on the menu at speciality coffee bar Shot in Berkeley Street. The beans, cultivated on the Japanese island of Okinawa, are the Typica variety - regarded as the ultimate varietal of Arabica coffee. Yields are low which means the coffee beans are scarce - and for obvious reasons, very expensive.
At Shot, Japan Typica Natural coffee, acclaimed for its “bright acidity and fruity, juicy notes” is available in several versions: espresso, macchiato, flat white, americano, cappuccino or latte. Sellitto, who tests London’s most expensive delicacies and films the results for his touchdalight Instagram page, opted for an ice latte which comes in at £265 for the coffee shot plus and extra £5.70 for the milk and ice £270.70 in total, just over $350.
Cheap ice ruins London’s most expensive latte
So how was the “coffee experience”? “It just looked like a normal iced latte - but at least the straw was made out of gold,” Sellitto opined. “The amount of flavor I had going on in my mouth really caught me offguard. I got goosebumps. It tasted crazy! It didn’t even taste like coffee, it tasted like some sort of fruit”.
So was it worth it? Sellitto didn’t think so and complained that the ice “seemed cheap”. The overall verdict: five out of 10.
