The exact amount to be received depends on each person’s situation. However, the SSA notes that the average monthly payment in 2023 for a retired worker in the United States is $1,827. SSI recipients may be eligible for a payment of $550 per month, with the possibility of collecting up to $914 as a maximum benefit for an individual and $1,371 for a married couple in which both spouses are eligible for the program.
The payment date for retired workers is linked to the day of their birth, while SSI recipients receive their check every first day of the month. People who will receive a check up to $914 on August 1 are recipients of Supplemental Security Income.

Social Security payment schedule for August
As for retired workers, as mentioned, the date depends on their day of birth. Those who were born between the 1st and 10th receive the money on the second Wednesday of the month, while those whose birthday falls between the 11th and 20th, do so on the third Wednesday and those from the 21st to the 31st, the last Wednesday. For beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997 the check is deposited on the first Wednesday of the month.
