Actor Jeff Daniels on Donald Trump: “He’s everything that’s wrong, not just with America, but with being a human being”
The 70-year-old actor offered his view on Trump as part of an interview on The Best People with Nicole Wallace.
Famous for a versatile acting career that spans stage, film and television, Jeff Daniels is well known for his roles in high profile movies such as, “Terms of Endearment”, “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” and later for starring in “Dumb and Dumber,” and the acclaimed HBO series “The Newsroom”.
Daniels was the guest on MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace show featuring on the latest episode of her The Best People podcast. The pair discussed a series of topics from living in Michigan to playing guitar and they also centred on the current political climate in the U.S. under the Donald Trump administration and their discussion also focused on tariffs and the current state of the Republican party.
The 70-year-old Emmy-winning actor has openly criticized Trump and the GOP in the past and with Wallace, pulled no punches.
Daniels stated that under Trump: “We’ve lost civility. We’ve lost respect for the rule of law, lost it. We have normalized verbal abuse on the internet. We’ve normalized bullying, much as the woke generation tried to, you know, change that it’s back and along out the window goes character, integrity.
I mean, nobody has great things to say about politicians. But ideally, we’re supposed to elect the best of us, not the worst of us."
He continued: “Trump is everything that’s wrong with not just America, but with being a human being”.
