These days it’s no longer possible to be neutral. Or at least that is what Adele must have thought, as she showed which side she was on in the continued fallout between Team Shakira and Team Piqué. In case there was any doubt, her public words suggested that she is fully behind the Barranquilla star.

Adele sends Piqué warning

Meeting with fans during a concert in Colombia this weekend she reacted to a comment about Shakira.

“I saw her performance last night on Jimmy Fallon… Oh, her ex-husband is in trouble!” she told the audience, with boisterous hilarity.

The British singer was referring to the interview that Shakira and Bizarrap offered on the late night show presented by Fallon, one of the most popular programs in the United States. The pair also performed Session 53 in front of the studio audience, a song filled with biting taunts towards Gerard Piqué and his new partner, Clara Chía.

Shakira explains Session 53

The success of Shakira’s recent releases with the Argentine producer has been in part due to the strong messages held within and on the show she explained how it was especially aimed at women who have been deceived or disenchanted, with lyrics that can empower.

“The thing with this song is it’s become like an anthem for so many women out there. You know, I’ve had a very rough year after my separation, and writing this song has been so important to me, it’s been a healthy way to channel my emotions,” the Colombian told Fallon and everyone else listening.

“And I feel that you know, after we put out this song, I really felt that I don’t only have fans out there, I have a sisterhood of women who have been through the same things that I have been through, who think the way I think, who feel the way I feel, who had to put up with so much crap the way I had to.”
