AI predicts what Madeleine McCann would look like today
As recent reports have added some hope to the missing girl being alive, the IA Stable Difussion tool has been used to give hints at her current features.
The disappearance of Madeleine McCann shocked the world in 2007, when she was on vacation with her family in Portugal, at the age of four. In recent days, a 21-year-old Polish woman by the name of Julia Faustyna came forward to say she could be the girl and requested a DNA test. This returned the case to the front pages.
With the appearance of Faustyna, millions of people around the world are asking if it is possible that Madeleine is still alive and now living in Germany. What is certain is that Faustyna is collecting a lot of evidence on her official Instagram account to prove her identity.
Police give no credibility to Faustyna’s McCann claim
An interesting aspect has been that, according to Faustyna, her family has never wanted to talk to her about her past, they have denied her access to her birth certificate, and that her grandmother gets angry any time she asks about it. She does also share many physical features with Madeleine’s parents.
However, it is not the first time that a young woman has claimed to be the girl who disappeared in the Algarve. From the beginning, the police have not given this girl much credibility, with photo comparisons suggesting various differences in facial structure, for example. Her age also does not match (Madeleine would now be 19 years old) although this could be resolved with tracing.

About Faustyna’s appearance, Francisco Marco, the owner of the Method 3 agency hired by Madeleine’s parents, wasn’t convinved.
“Without knowing the details in depth, it doesn’t add up to me. I don’t think it’s her,” he stated to El Independiente. A DNA test should resolve any doubts.
Based on the girl’s photographs, La Vanguardia revealed what the minor could look like today. To do this, they used the IA Stable tool Difussion, a powerful image creator based on machine learning which can be more precise when displaying results.
Is Julia Faustyna Madeleine McCann?
The Spanish media outlet revealed that the images created by artificial intelligence are very similar to the girl who claims to be Madeleine.
“The shape of the eyes and the eyebrows and the thick lips are a clear common point. They also match in hair color and some facial expressions, further raising doubts about whether Julia Faustyna is indeed the real Madeleine.”
The most recent suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine is Christian Brueckner, who lived near the place where the family was staying, and became known when in 2017 he began to boast and say that he was responsible for the kidnapping while he was with a friend in a bar.
